We wrote Children of Abraham in 2008, but came together in 2024 to record it and this entire album of songs that we wrote at that earlier time. Only now, we have seen widespread vicious attacks and horrifying death in the Middle East, prompting the screams in our song, having had enough of the Children of Abraham – all in a family – at each other’s throats, making precarious much of the world. There are no words for the sunken misery felt by the spirit of Abraham, the father of these children. The song is music for our souls, wherever our minds may be on this matter.
Bound from our birth
about 4,000 years ago.
Complex relationships
rooted in what was so.
Many are living the dream
that claims to be supreme.
Defining the other,
forgetting that they are brothers.
Salaam, salaam, salaam alaykoom
Peace, peace, peace be upon you
Aman aman
Dear God mercy
Ahalan, wasahalan, ou marharbabekoom
You are among family, in a safe place, you are welcome
Aman aman
Dear God mercy
Always so close and so far,
it’s not us it is them.
It’s written in the stars
and we are the writers.
So let’s write a new page
of the end of such days.
Think of our old man –
he’d be so glad if we can.
Salaam, salaam, salaam alaykoom
Peace, peace, peace be upon you
Aman aman
Dear God mercy
Ahalan, wasahalan, ou marharbabekoom
You are among family, in a safe place, you are welcome
Aman aman
Dear God mercy
Divided among and within
so we all lose or we win.
Forces on all sides –
sometimes I just want to hide.
Look each other in the eye –
can you see your mama cry?
It can be forever in the sand –
peace in the promised land.
Salaam, salaam, salaam alaykoom
Peace, peace, peace be upon you
Aman aman
Dear God mercy
Ahalan, wasahalan, ou marharbabekoom
You are among family, in a safe place, you are welcome
Aman aman
Dear God mercy
Look each other in the eye –
can you see your mama cry?
It can be forever in the sand –
Peace, children of Abraham.
Salaam, salaam, salaam alaykoom
Peace, peace, peace be upon you
Aman aman
Dear God mercy
Ahalan, wasahalan, ou marharbabekoom
You are among family, in a safe place, you are welcome
Aman aman
Dear God mercy
